Annotation: in this article, the dynamics of the level of claims of 1-4 year students-psychologists with different levels of self-esteem has been studied. The study proves that students with a low level of self-esteem are dominated by an average level of claims, and psychology students with a high level of claims have a high level of self-esteem. This article studies the dynamics of the level of aspirations among 1-4 year psychology students with different levels of self-esteem.
Key words: level of aspirations, self-esteem, students, psychology students, dynamics.
Everyone tends to evaluate themselves in one way or another. Self-esteem is an integral part of human behavior. The level of claim is a person's potential assessment of himself. The level of claims is formed with the help of subjective experiences of success or failure in human activity. At the moment, the study of the relationship between self-esteem and the level of human claims is relevant, since these phenomena affect our behavior in most situations.
When analyzing the scientific literature, it was revealed that "claim" and "level of claims" are considered from the same side. These phenomena denote different but interconnected aspects of the same psychological process. It was found that the theoretical aspect is largely studied by the level of a person's claims. This phenomenon is studied from the side of personal education. This affects the stability of a person's character.
Research hypothesis: there are differences among psychology students of 1-4 courses with different self-esteem in terms of the level of claims, namely, students with a low level of self-esteem have an average level of claims, and psychology students with a high level of claims have a high level of self-esteem.
As a diagnostic material, we used the following methods: a method for studying self-esteem and the level of claims (T. Dembo-S. Rubinshtein, modified by A.M. Prikhozhan); study of the level of claims (F. Hoppe).
The research base is 1-4 year students of the psychological faculty of the Pedagogical Institute of the NRU "BelSU" aged 18 to 21 years; sample - 60 people (20 boys and 40 girls).
To study the self-esteem of students, we examined the overall level of self-esteem of the sample. The results are shown in Figure 1.
Rice. 1. Distribution of students by the level of self-esteem (%)
As a result of the data obtained, we can say that the majority of students have an average level of self-esteem (73%). Some students have a high level of self-esteem (15%). The rest of the respondents have a low level of self-esteem (12%).
Thus, we can say that the sample has an average level of self-esteem. Such students are self-confident, can correlate their abilities and abilities, strive to adequately look at their successes and failures.
Next, we would like to consider the level of self-esteem and claims of students of 1-4 courses. The level of self-assessment of students of 1-4 courses is shown in Figure 2.
Rice. 2. Distribution of 1st – 4th year students according to the level of self-assessment (%)
As a result of the obtained data, we can observe that the self-assessment of 1-4 year students is undulating. 1st year students have an average level of self-esteem (66.6%). A small part of the respondents has a low level of self-esteem (20%). The rest of the respondents have a high level of self-esteem (13.4%).
We can observe that the group of subjects of the 2nd course has 73% of the severity of the average level of self-esteem, that is, they rationally assess their capabilities and abilities. The rest of the group has a high level (27%). A low level of self-esteem was not revealed (0%).
3rd year students have an average level of self-esteem (60%). 26.7% of the subjects have a low level. The rest of the subjects expressed a high level of self-esteem (13.3%).
Almost the entire group of 4th year respondents has an average level of self-esteem (93.3%). The rest has a high level of self-esteem (6.7%). A low level of self-esteem was not detected in the 4th year (0%).
Thus, we can say that the average level of self-esteem prevails among students of 1-4 courses. All courses have a small percentage of high self-esteem. The dynamics of 1st-4th year students with low self-esteem is undulating.
To solve the task of identifying the dynamics of the level of claims and the level of self-esteem among psychology students of 1-4 courses. To begin with, a statistical analysis was carried out on indicators of the level of claims and the level of self-esteem of 1-4 courses, using the non-parametric criterion of N-Kruskal-Wallis. Results – table 1.
Table 1.
The results of statistical analysis in terms of the level of claims and the level of self-esteem among psychology students of 1 - 4
Indicators studied | Course | Н эмп
1course Мх1 | 2course Мх2 | 3course Мх3 | 4course Мх4 |
Indicators of the self-assessment methodology and the level of claims T. Dembo-S. Rubinstein
Claim | 65,2 | 67 | 58,3 | 65,9 | 2,07
Self-esteem | 58 | 66,6 | 59,4 | 63,7 | 3,95
Indicators of the methodology for studying the level of claims (F. Hoppe)
Claim | 26,8 | 59,4 | 22,3 | 25,7 | 8,87* |
Note:* - p ≤ 0,1; ** - p ≤ 0,05.
As a result of the obtained data, statistical differences were revealed at the level of p ≤ 0.1 in terms of "Claim". It was found that 2nd year students have a more pronounced level of aspirations relative to other courses.
So, there are the following features of the level of aspirations of psychology students depending on the course: the higher the course, the lower the level of aspirations, the lowest level of aspirations among psychology students of the 3rd year, by the 4th year the level grows. Features were also identified depending on the level of self-esteem: the higher the level of self-esteem, the higher the level of claims.
Thus, we can say that there is a wave-like dynamics of the level of aspirations of 1st - 4th year students with different levels of self-esteem, namely: a high level of aspirations among 1st year students with an average level of self-esteem and among 2nd year students with a high level of self-esteem; 3rd year students have an average level of severity with an average self-esteem: and 4th year students also have an average level of severity, with a high level of self-esteem.
The hypothesis that there are differences between students of 1-4 courses with different self-esteem in terms of the level of claims, namely, students with a low level of self-esteem have an average level of claims, and psychology students with a high level of self-esteem have a high level of self-esteem, was confirmed.
