Materials needed: whiteboard, markers, images of different types of bacteria, hand sanitizer, soap, water.
Lesson Overview:
1. Introduction (10 minutes)
- Begin the lesson by asking students what they know about bacteria.
- Define bacteria as single-celled microorganisms that can be found almost everywhere.
- Discuss the characteristics of bacteria, such as their ability to reproduce rapidly and adapt to different environments.
2. Importance of Bacteria (15 minutes)
- Explain the importance of bacteria in the ecosystem, such as their role in decomposition, nutrient recycling, and nitrogen fixation.
- Show images of different types of bacteria and explain their roles in the environment.
3. Types of Bacteria (15 minutes)
- Introduce the different types of bacteria, such as beneficial bacteria, pathogenic bacteria, and symbiotic bacteria.
- Discuss examples of each type and their impact on humans and the environment.
