The work out of the lesson on the theme "School in your life"

Theme: "School in your life"

Objectives: - to provide reading, speaking, listening practice on the theme "School in your life"

-to make a presentation of the project

Accessories:cards,schemes,tables

I. Organization moment

II. Warm up

Who taught you to read and write? Perhaps, your parents started teaching you to read when you were a small child? But not all parents do this. Most of children are taught to read and write and do many other things at school. Schools are everywhere, in every country, every city, town and other places where people live, and that's why debates about education will never end. Some people consider our educational system to be close to perfect, others say that it's too hard and that it's unnecessary to study all the school subjects. Comparisons of the American, British and Kazakhstany educational systems are usual, as they represent different kinds of philosophies and this is the problem for the new generations, for you to solve. Which educational system is the best one? A perfect school-what is it? Think a bit and answer my questions:

1. What do you enjoy most about your own experience of school?

2. What help you develop as a student?

III. Reading speaking, listening practice.

1. One thing that most students want from school, of whatever kind is, a good teacher. Read the descriptions below of some children's favourite teachers. They are at primary school/ Are any of them similar to your own favourite teacher at primary school?

"My teachers are very kind and gentle. Mrs. Johnson is my favourite one because she's got lovely black hair " / Hannah, aged 5

"I like all my teachers. Mrs. Mortimer is my favourite because she wears glasses and she teaches us funny songs " /Sarah, aged 6

"My favourite teacher is Miss Renals. She is quite good, she doesn't usually get cross with me, but she does get cross with Hollie sometimes " / Thomas, aged 5

"/think teachers are quite good. Binny the helper is my best one because she is the best one at doing the reading" /Lousie, aged 4

"My teachers are good. Miss Simms is my favourite because she is my from teacher and she is very kind" /Simon aged 8

2. List the characteristics of a good teacher. Discuss your answers with the partner.

3. You are going to listen to Emma, an eighteen-year-old British student, talking about what she thinks are the qualities of a good teacher. Listen and tick those factors on your list from Activity 2 that Emma mentions.

4. Listen again and list any other characteristics Emma mentions.

5. What is the main message that Emma would give to teachers. Choose from the list:

Be patient

Empathize with your students

Be tolerant

Enjoy teaching

Help your students. Be sociable.

Do you agree? Why? Why not?

The teacher asks the students to share their options.

So as you see little children like their teacher because they are kind, gentle, wear glasses or have got lovely black hair. When they are at secondary school they want their teachers to have personal interest in the students as human beings to be well prepared and so on. You see different points.

Now read the 4 passages which were written by students in Britain as part of a survey on "My perfect school" and note down in a few words in the bubble beside each face the main things each student would want from a perfect school.

N. B. The passages contain some language mistakes.

A) My perfect school would be much like the one I went to. However several improvements could be made. There could be a better pupil-teacher relationship, especially between older teachers and pupils. Pupils should once again be given some kind of incentive to do well both at academic and sports activities. Discipline would be strict but punishment would only be administered in severe cases. Any punishment administered would have some relevance to the crime committed instead of corporal punishment and lines. Pupils would also be given more career information to prepare them more fully for going out into the world. They would also be told that unemployment is a fact that they may have to live with. School would still be compulsory.

B) My perfect school would be a new modern school which is brightly decorated. I would like the school to let you do any subject that would get you the right qualification to get you the job that you were seeking and be able to sit any number of grades. The teacher should be able to talk freely with the teachers about your school work and any problems that you have. I don't think that you should go to school because you would never get anywhere without being educated. The rules in the school should be fair not to strict and not о lenient. This school would be fantastic compared to the school that I went to. The school was so cold and dreary and you could not talk freely to the teachers about your school work, and I did not like the way they just pass you by because you were not the brightest in the school.

C) My school would start at 10. 00 am too 6. 00 pm because 8. 00 am is too early. The school would be a new school and have heated classrooms and decent PE equipment. The teachers would understand your .problems and listen to your ideas. I would do a way with RE and music and bring in something about life after school, jobs, marriage, sex etc. You wouldn't have to wear school uniforms and you should be able to wear what you want You have to do a least three years at secondary school. There would be longer break times. My school would be much better than the school I went to. My old school was too old fashioned you couldn't even come in with dyed hair or a short hair cut.

D) My idea of a perfect school would be one that gave you subjects you enjoyed and would be of use to you. I would like the teachers to treat us with more respect and intelligence instead of looking upon us as an inferior race, how are we supposed to treat them with respect it is not returned and appreciated. I would like to go to a school that the teachers made an effort to communicate with you. I think they shouldn't give you subjects like history, geography, scienceetc. They may be quite interesting to some people. I liked history at school, out they are not practical do not prepare you for life outside the school. I think you should be prepared for looking for jobs, what to ex pect etc. from 1 st year at school in this any and age with the mess our country is in it is about the most sensible thing to do.
