С чего начинается путешествие?
(Сценарий урока в 9 классе)
Достаточно часто, отвечая на вопрос «Зачем вы изучаете иностранный язык?», ребята говорят, что это одно из необходимых условий для комфортного и успешного путешествия по разным странам. Поэтому мне хотелось бы поделиться некоторыми идеями, которые могут пригодиться на уроке, посвященном самому процессу путешествия, начиная с момента выбора направления, и заканчивая размещением в гостинице или хостеле. Сценарий урока прописан на английском языке, с некоторыми пояснениями на русском.
Цель урока: Способствовать расширению социокультурного кругозора учащихся, составить представление о роли английского языка в современном мире.
Задачи урока:
- Воспитательная: воспитание уважительного отношения к представителям других культур и народов.
- Образовательная: расширение страноведческих знаний по теме «Англо-говорящие страны».
- Практическая: развитие умения доказательно высказываться с опорой на вопросы, выделять ключевую информацию в содержании печатного и аудио текста и активизировать изученный лексический материал в устной речи учащихся, развивать умения учащихся воспринимать иноязычный текст как источник информации; развитие навыка аудирования с целью извлечения информации; тренировка монологической и диалогической речи;
- Развивающая: развитие абстрактного мышления, умения анализировать и классифицировать языковой материал, памяти, логики, умения учиться.
Оборудование: доска, буклеты, раздаточный материал, магнитофон, учебник.
Ход урока:
Организационный момент (5 мин.): Вступительное слово, создание атмосферы иноязычного общения.
Teacher: As far as you know lots people travel nowadays. Every year millions of people visit different countries that they could not visit some years ago. Travelling is becoming more and more popular, it’s a style of a modern life. No one can imagine their holidays without travelling. I think you and your parents travel as well.
Do you travel? ….. Where do you travel?
I was sure you like travelling as many people from all over the world do. Let’s read some of the sayings and quotations by some famous people. As you can see, they represent different cultures:
"One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things." – Henry Miller
The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. - St. Augustine
Don't tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you traveled. – prophet Muhammed
Own only what you can carry with you; know language, know countries, know people. Let your memory be your travel bag. - Alexander Solzhenitsyn
But what does travelling include?
1. Places you visit.
2. Means of travelling (that include railway stations, airports, bus stations, seaports).
3. Places we stay at.
And the places that we stay at can be expressed in one word: ACCOMMODATION (номер, жилье,размещение).
But before discussing a new theme I suggest that we should experience everything by ourselves. So, tell me please, what does a travelling start from? (Pupils: Airport….)
Teacher: Every travelling starts from booking a tour! Do you remember how a man was booking a tour to Australia? Let’s act out this situation ourselves. We’ll join in groups of three:
Group 1 – Australia; Group 2 – America; Group 3 – Greece; Group 4 – Italy.
So, your task is to decide who is going to be a travel agent and the other two pupils will be the clients. The clients should describe their plans to the travel agent and get all the necessary information about the trip. And the travel agent will try to find out about where they would like to travel, and also be ready to give any information the client will need. (3 min. to prepare, then listen to 2-3 groups).
Thank you. Ok, after you have booked the tour and packed all your suitcases, what is the next step? (Pupils: Going to the airport or a railway station?) Yes, but you have to know the scheme of the airport and the rules of being in this place. Now look at these words: Gate, Duty free store/shop, Flight, Baggage, Departure lounge, Check-in desk, Terminal, Customs, Delay, Boarding card, Customs officer.
Let’s imagine that we’ve just arrived at the airport. We are going to Great Britain. What can you here at the airport? (Pupils:Airport announcements). Различные объявления в аэропорту можно найти в интернете или на каналеyoutube.com. Например: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyJhyoD2Qz4.
Can you explain what do these words mean after having heard the airport announcements? (Учащиеся объясняют значение слов на английском языке после прослушивания объявлений в аэропорту).
That’s fine. And when you arrive in the country you are given next kind of paper: Landing Card of a UK border Agency (Карточкаприбывающего, Приложение 1). Now I’d like to give it to you to fill it in. While filling the information you may imagine the number of your flight, your passport number and so on.
After a long flight to London we are very tired and want to get to our hotel as fast as possible. And again you have to be aware of the types of rooms and hotels. I’m sure, you can easily guess the meaning of the words in bold. (Записать слова на доске с транскрипцией, но без перевода. Учащиеся читают по-одному предложению на листах, распечатанных для них, дают варианты перевода, и я записываю их напротив слов.)
We booked an en suite room, so the bathroom was joined to the bedroom.
We needed a double room for me and my husband, and a single room for my mother, but they didn’t have any, so we had to book atriple for the three of us.
This is a bed-and-breakfast hotel, so we won’t need to worry about our morning meals.
You’ll have to pay 30 dollars more if you wantfull board, but then you’ll have to come to the hotel for every meal.
We can’t book any doubles, only singles areavailable for this date.
We stayed at a five-star hotel with all the possible facilities: bathroom, TV, mini-bar, telephone and other things.
Now I’d like to tell you, and may be someone knows about it, that you get this kind of paper at the hotel. It is called “Voucher of services” (Приложение 2). Your task will be to look through it, try to get as much information as possible and answer the questions below.
Answer the following questions:
1. What is the name of this hotel?
2. What does “4*” mean?
3. What’s the address of the hotel?
4. What is the nearest metro station?
5. Is the hotel far from the tube?
6. What can you say about its location?
7. How many people are going to stay in the hotel?
8. How long is the tourist going to stay here?
9. Did the traveler book the transport to get to the hotel beforehand?
10. Is he going to have dinner and supper at the hotel?
