The topic of my work is Catering system of the USA. My paper is dedicated to the development of the system of restaurants in the USA.
The topic of my work is up-to-date and new, I think. Nowadays the number of fast food restaurants has increased all over the world. America is an amazing country, where everything is connected with success. We often connect the USA with such names as McDonalds .Fast food restaurants is one of the inventions of the United States. But there were other types of restaurants that we don`t know.
The aim of my work is to learn it.
Studying the history of the question, restaurants existed and exist now, there were founders, each creator has brought in something new, also there is information about the most popular fast food restaurants.
The catering network in North America began to form in the 17th century. And it was connected with the fast food.In 1634, one of the first taverns opened in Boston, offering a rich selection of ready-made meals. By 1848, in New York, there already existed a hierarchy of public catering points. At the very bottom of this pyramid were "sixpence food" restaurants.
They began to focus more on local residents than on travellers.
In 19 th century a traditionto dine outside the house was born, not for necessity, but for pleasure.
The cafeterias, as they are today, opened in Chicago in 1891. The cafeteria principle was originated in California during the Gold Rush era.
The term "fast food" was firstly introduced in 1951 I the dictionary. Fast food was known in ancient Rome, China , India ,Europe and Russia. Fast food industry began in the 1920's in America. In 1921 the company White Castle was opened in Kansas specialized in hamburgers.
One of the German immigrants brought a recipe of hamburgers to the United States. The term "hamburger" itself appeared in 1834 in one of the restaurants in New York.
In 1930s Walter Anderson in Kansas founded the first White Castle Hamburger restaurant chain, which included hamburgers as the main course .Firstly, hamburgers started selling at extremely low prices, and secondly, allowed for the service less than one minute. It was a completely new type of catering.
The appearance of "drive-in" restaurants further increased the popularity of hamburgers and turned into a main dish of fast food.
The first Delmonic restaurant appeared in the USA in1832 in New York. For a long time the restaurants of the Delmonico restaurant chain were the only expensive and quite aristocratic restaurants in the USA. The innovation of it was a bilingual menu in which the names of the dishes in French and English were placed opposite each other.
By the end of the XIX century fruit soda with ice cream was invented and large boxes with a soda-making machine.
In 1959 the first elegant restaurant opened in America, not imitating the French models – Four Seasons. It was different from others with its seasonal menu.
During the work I have come to conclusions .The US food industry was formed as the most developed in the world.
The formula for success is simple. There were different types of public catering establishments and they are usually chains . Restaurants were divided by specialization and were focused on local residents, not for tourists. Americans developed original principles : cafeteria, fast service. They invented fruit soda and ice cream, soda-making machine.
